Go down the list of registry entries in the right-hand pane...
When you get to the name "MenuShowDelay" check what the data value is?
May vary for XP Home or XP Pro edition - "400" maybe?
If it is not Zero "0", double-click on it and set the "Data Value" to 0 and click ok.

Congratulations - you just saved yourself 400 milli-second show delays on your desktop menus!!!
E.g. - Each time you go to say START > Program Files > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Controls... you now save yourself 4x400ms i.e. 1.6 seconds of your life each time you do it!!! Same goes for other drop-down menus.
Can ANYONE explain what possible reason there could be for adding a 400ms delay to all menu shows!? It just slows everyones' PCs down. Crazy!
