ok it was a movie but there were some good ideas like... hijacking tv signals and broadcasting a message

anyone thought about this?

what technologies exist that would facilitate this?

I found this, it allows you to transmit and receive over radio+tv signals

buy it here - http://www.ettus.com/ ($550)

From the looks of it, this is just an fm car radio transmitter, used to tune your ipod in on different stations. Maybe any media device could work, or maybe another more a generic transmitter like this one: http://www.mrgadget.com.au/catalog/irocks-...ce16b841eefc2eb

drive or walk around with these transmittting a pirate signal... reminds me of the end of pump up the volume...

Just a thought... I know this is very improbable, but what if a transmitter could override an mp3 player and force it to play radio? Now that would be a touch cool.gif

The ipod is definitely a good tool. I format everything I download so that I can give it to others who can watch it on their ipods. There is a cable for $15 at Radioshack that will output audio and/or video from an ipod video to RCA inputs on a TV or stereo system. I can plug in my ipod and have 9/11 Mysteries, Loose Change, TerrorStorm, and even V for Vendetta rolleyes.gif on a TV in a few seconds. I can also plug my ipod into a USB port on any computer and transfer a film or radio show right to someone's hard drive.

Forget copying hundreds of DVDs to get films out to people. Just plug in and share your entire collection.

I also serve a web site from my computer to share files with family and friends over the web. I just email the link and they can download a whole video or mp3 right from my computer. Unlike free web services like Geocities, this way there are no ads, no bandwidth limits, no space limits (other than what your hard drive can hold) and no limitations to what types of files you can share. This can be set up in a few minutes on a Mac. I don't know how to do it on a PC, but I'm sure you can. A cheap fee could register a .com domain to that site.

This looks amazing. It will also be a good tool for getting the word out. Thanks, waxzy!

When I was in the States over Christmas / New Year, I bought a Sony device, which connects all sorts of MP3 devices to it, either via a mini headphone jack, or mini USB socket for charging. My laptop, phone, and MP3 player are all connectable.

There are 4 channels on it, which can be pre-set to any FM channel you choose. The antenna connects magnetically to the seat rail, thus turning the car into a mobile transmitter. The signal is then picked up again by the car radio antenna, and played as a normal radio station. This can be most interesting in areas between transmitters, or anywhere that a channel becomes weak.

If you find yourself at a standstill in traffic (the A1 stretch around Blythe roundabout is particularly good/bad), you may well find Alex Jones coming through the airwaves instead of hearing the traffic report on Radio 2 - if so, look out for a blonde driving an Alfa Romeo laugh.gif

Aah, Friday afternoon traffic jams on the A1 are a lot more fun than they used to be wink.gif

Edit: Here's a link to the Sony gizmo I use. It really does work well, and has better signal strength than similar transmitters that a couple of friends have tried. I'd still be interested in boosting it though!

I love the revolutionary ideas posted here but I'm afraid they're much too little much too late.
