Here are the options that can be set when you create your account at CR.org:

A.) To change these global options afterwards, to permit automatic notification:
  1. First, click on "My Controls" (top of the window) & under "Options" (down the left hand side) , you will find "Email Settings".
  2. Under Privacy Settings, you should enable "Send me any updates sent by the board administrator. Enabling this option will add your email address to the administrators mail list and you will receive any updates sent."
  3. Under "Board Preferences", ensure that "Enable 'Email Notification' by default?" is checked.
  4. Now you must choose what sort of notification you require (selection box) - immediate, delayed, daily or weekly digest (daily or weekly would likely be more suitable for people who are not at their computers most of the day). You may choose this under:
"If ticked, choose default type: (selection box) Enabling this option will automatically subscribe you to any topic you start or reply to. "
This will enable automatic Email notification of replies to be sent for each topic you are active on, without any further intervention.

B.) To change the options on a per-post basis:
  1. As per the instructions above, first ensure that "Under Privacy Settings, you should enable "Send me any updates sent by the board administrator. Enabling this option will add your email address to the administrators mail list and you will receive any updates sent."
  2. Then, when starting a new topic or replying to a post, immediately underneath the text input box, you will see three clickable post options:
    • Enable Emoticons
    • Enable Signature
    • & Enable email notification of replies
  3. Ensure that this last option checked if you do wish to receive notification for this individual topic, or deselect it if you don't want to be notified of replies.
If the per-post option doesn't seem to work for you, please check that you have enabled Emails to be sent - as per directions in B.) 1. (above).

If you still have problems getting this to work, please let us know - either by replying on this thread in "Help!", or by PMing me or one on the board admins with a request to investigate.
* Please note - I may not always be able to respond quickly, as I frequently work away from home with no Internet access. A post in the Help! forum will usually be the fastest way of getting help.
