As many of you already know, our tracker was experiencing unexpected intermittent timeouts at the middle of this week - unexpected, because it had been up and running for a whopping 458 days (including the testing phase with all the changes that went on then) - without any reboot or hiccup whatsoever. We were expecting to celebtrate 500 straight days of uninterrupted tracker uptime on May 1st, an amazing record.
However, events conspired against us, & it transpires that the data centre which housed our tracker was subject to a big bust on Wednesday - due to some other sites hosted on the same premises as our server. Unfortunately, our tracker got caught up in the crossfire.
However, the server does not belong to the ISP - I bought and paid for it in full - so here's the good news:
During the bust, our server was spirited away from the data centre and transported to a safe location, pending reconnection to the Internet. We expect reconnection to take place on Easter Sunday (this weekend), and that normal service will be restored very quickly afterwards.
For those of you who had live torrents on our tracker, please rest assured that they should all still be alive and well when we regain connectivity:- our seed-box is continuing to keep many of them alive and seeded at turbo-speeds meantime. During the next day or so, it is still important to please continue seeding any torrents that you yourselves wish to keep alive - our DNS propagates very quickly, and the tracker should start picking them up again within 5-10 minutes of reconnection. We do not anticipate any data loss to occur during the process.

Our strategy of keeping no unnecessary records ensures that your information cannot fall into the wrong hands - they can't get what we don't have! Another exceptionally worrying documentary that we have been promoting this week is a new presentation on "Common Purpose", an ominously creepy pseudo-"charity" whose tentacles are reaching into every area of British local government, including schools. YOUR tax money is paying for this: The Cabinet Office confirms that Ł167 billion and rising is spent annually to fund the 8,500-odd quangos which are now almost exclusively controlled by the Common Purpose graduates. Another highly-recommended documentary is "The PentaCon", by the Citizen Investigation Team. For those of you who use DHT-enabled torrent clients, you can also obtain the torrent from the bottom of this post – it too is being turbo-seeded. Azureus & µTorrent in particular will pick this up right away, despite the tracker being down, and the temporary absence of the tracker causes no problems.
