I'm not sure how long this video will be around, but I wanted to record it here. Basically, some Iraqi children are throwing stones at some British soldiers, who then grab a handful of children, drag them out of public view and kick the hell out of them. The scenes are made worse by the quite demonic narration of the camera operator. It's disgusting and very sad.

My point, such as it is and as a former member of the armed forces, is that both sides are just doing what comes naturally under the circumstances in which they find themselves, given enough time, frustration and the inability of both sides to walk away. We have to look at those who engineered this whole thing and place the blame firmly at their feet: first and foremost the planners and financiers.

It's an interesting idea Lumsk, but I suspect you'd end up with a world where there's only you and the killing machine left!
As I hinted above, I don't really blame the soldiers any more or less than I blame the children, the officers in charge or even myself in a way. Each is playing out a role which seems logical to them based on their understanding of the world at the time and our world pretty much reflects that.
Many people do seem very stupid these days, but that's because their personal models of the world are corrupted and under-developed, quite deliberately so, by the education system, the media and everything else. Developed human societies are very well trained to sacrifice their innate spirituality on the altar of materialism without realizing it. In light of these forces, we're mostly chained into a fiercely left-brain reality and we can't progress much further without overcoming that.
How understandings are formed is the key. Cognitive psychologists study this, but even they, because of the way they are trained to view the parameters of their discipline are unable (for the most part) to acknowledge or recognize that some people have way too much influence over the process of reality creation. "Because that would be politics and we don't really look at that", you see?
We're all marionettes to an extent, because ultimately we're in a system which enslaves and mind controls nearly the entire species - and that makes it easier to understand how it is that the puppet-masters come to regard themselves as living gods.
Maybe start there with the Death Note and see how it goes with the rest of us once we've all had a chance to wear the "They Live" glasses a few times.
