EU Telecoms Ministers meeting in Luxembourg have today agreed to end existing state monopolies on the delivery of letters. It'll take time, but ultimately the Royal Mail is unlikely to survive this development. No link to post as yet, but it'll probably be here by the end of the day at the very least. I wonder who originally paid for all those Post Offices, vans and the like that will be sold off? Taxpayers perhaps?
My reason for posting is to encourage EU supporters to watch how this is marketed. It'll probably take a year or two, but I'll bet you a virtual pint that this will be presented as a domestic initiative rather than a EU superstate decision - and I'll wage you another that we'll all be paying much more for postal deliveries to outlying areas before long.
Brits need to wake up!
