Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of a program that can save Adobe flash files on Linux?
I've tried saving the .swf file using Firefox but it does't work.
Please, it would help out a lot. Thank you

Hi yuvanh,
This problem also affects Windoze users, and the best solution I found for that was to allow the .swf to download, and then to make a copy of it by locating it in the Temporary Internet Files folder. Another idea might be to use Democracy Player (now known as Miro) to view & save the files - check our Democracy RSS feed forum for links, if you haven't used DP / Miro before.

Although I have only tried these suggestions with Windoze, I haven't yet had a chance to test them with Ubuntu, although I believe that a similar procedure should also work with Linux; if not, please post back & I'll be delighted to look into this further for you.

Best regards,
Mairi

Does this help?

I understand in xp, that would lead to tools> options> content> file types > manage > find swf and change action to save file.

A little quicker than searching through temporary files. Aye you shall not nono.gif waste your time now!

LOL Far - good comment smile.gif

BTW - if you click on a column header, it sorts A-Z or Z-A on that field, so if you click the "size" column, it's generally pretty easy to find the file you're after - i.e generally one of the larger ones. Failing that, a sort by "date" will come up with the goods.

Sorry, I should have mentioned this before, my bad...

PS Far - posts in this forum don't show up automatically but get held in a queue & need to be "approved", in order to prevent malicious code being posted - it wasn't always like this, but a drive-through-vandal abused the open posting facility in the past, which is why things are more locked down now. Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you for the info.

I save them and watch them all the time. Use this extension for Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006 Just click on the little arrow next to the animated thing on the bar, and click the file to download as an FLV file. You can view it in either VLC player or Kmplayer, download with Synaptic. Which Linux do you use? I use PC Linux myself, RPM based, comes with most everything you need.
