QUOTE
People who get identity cards will have their fingerprints checked against those found at the scene of nearly a million unsolved crimes, Tony Blair said last night.

Responding to a petition on the No 10 Downing Street website calling for the proposed introduction of ID cards to be scrapped, Mr Blair said the biometric recognition details, such as fingerprints, would be entered on a new National Identity Register.

In an email to the 28,000 people who signed the online petition, Mr Blair said the register would help police bring those guilty of serious crimes to justice.

"They will be able, for example, to compare the fingerprints found at the scene of some 900,000 unsolved crimes against the information held on the register."

The Government is already building up a national DNA register by authorising the police to take saliva swabs from anyone who is arrested – even if they are not charged – as well as those convicted of serious criminal offences.

Mr Blair's email appears to contradict an assurance given by Tony McNulty, a Home Office Minister, when the legislation was going through the Commons in 2005. Mr McNulty said there were safeguards against state agencies "for want of a better phrase, going fishing in the database".

The Conservatives are committed to scrapping the ID card scheme, which they claim will cost at least £5 billion.

Guilty until proven Innocent; what a joke.

Totally. The emotional blackmail here is that anyone opposing the biometric National Identity Register must therefore want to prevent crimes from being solved, and by extension, are probably hiding something. I remember the same sort of argument being trotted out with the introduction of CC-TV many moons ago, and look at the state of affairs now.
irrelevant
People who are ignorant will sign up to recieve the "benefits"
People who resist will be labled anti-social.
People who refuse will be identified and databased.

Majority wins.
From a health perspective..

Under proposals by Australian Federal Cabinet people will have to register to obtain government benefits...

The following quote has inserts within { } that are not by Tony Abbott.

Health Minister Tony Abbott says the card will help the Government deliver better services. "I health, for instance, it ought {should but won't} to mean that if your trouble {induced fear} a doctor, ambulance officer or emergency department {actually implying the card itself} would be able to access some basic health information from the smart card {...he is a master speaker one of the Aust Governments best weapons}," he said. "Now that could be the difference between life and death so this is not something that should scare people."

Scary stuff considering the ignorant would swallow the above - hook line and id chip.

Hi irrelevant, and welcome to CoRe.

I totally agree with your comments here. Unfortunately, promoting fear has become the favourite tactic of governments worldwide for inducing people to do their bidding - rather than the governments doing the bidding of the people. It has proved to be such an effective weapon in side-tracking people that the governments no longer seem to fear the people, as they should.

The theory of "democratic" government - that voters should be able to get rid of them when they no longer serve them - doesn't hold much water any more, because people are being terrorised into blindly accepting what their governments tell them to do. The media is largely responsible for sensationalist fearmongering, and it's very difficult for people in today's society to break free from this. As I see it, the problem is further escalated by modern education, since children are no longer being taught how to think & figure things out for themselves, but instead how to be "good citizens" & follow orders.

The main problem we seem to face, I believe, is how to break the vicious cycle of fearmongering that prevents people from taking back their power of choice - and how to do so before laws become too restrictive, and dissent becomes a criminal offence.

One of the most frightening things I read last year was that Manchester United (the most well-known football club in the world, I believe) considered microchipping their players - to make it easier to follow what they were doing on-pitch. Thankfully, they don't seem to be following through with this - so far, at least. However, I can't imagine anything that would make personal ID chips more appealling as a status symbol / hip thing to have, most especially for the younger generation. That made me realise just how soon mass microchipping of people could begin, and just how easily they could be persuaded to accept it.

The drive towards microchipping is ever more persistant, and coming from so many different angles now. I couldn't imagine two years ago that it would be driven forward so quickly - scary stuff, most definitely.

I've read quite a bit about the push towards the NWO going on in Australia, and look forward to hearing more from you about this. Welcome aboard!
